The
dMat is our mat for jumping rope. When I designed the mat my guidelines were that it had to have a
surface which is durable and must not get slippery when sweating. It has to
absorb shock to avoid microtraumatic injuries but without being bouncy. Then it has to be
big enough to do most of my skipping techniques and finally it has to
lay flat on the ground and should not budge an inch while tormenting it. All this is achieved with this mat.
It consist of three layers. The top layer is industrial quality felt for anti-slip (it absorbs the sweat). The middle layer is a softer rubber foam mostly for absorbing impact. The bottom layer is solid rubber. This combination absorbs the shock quite well while it lays solidly on the ground.
The downside it that it is rather heavy and bulky to transport. It also needs some time to loose the distinctive smell of rubber. So it would be not a mat what should be in your living room at the beginning.
