Years in Business
Where do I get a quality jump rope which is lasting and can be weighted in order to also work on the upper body?
This I asked myself
1991. Back then I used to jump rope for long stretches (sometimes continuously up to 90 minutes) mostly out-doors and on concrete floor as an endurance training instead of running and cycling (and to condition myself for the Thai-box training I was doing then).
Every rope I got (leather, PVC, cable, rubber) was kaputt after about 2 months and I had to buy a new one, adjust it to length only to trash it a couple of weeks later...
This was the time when I began to develop my own jump rope because there was no satisfying product on the market.
I tried about 10 designs before I settled to a final version: the
G1, the predecessor of the
duvide dG. The first series of it I started to sell in
1993. This model and the website for it is still available on web.archives.org
here.
In
2002 I changed the name from duvi.de to
duvide.
September
2006 we started to manufacture the dModels in our new small factory in Bangkok, Thailand making it a full-time business for me.
With the dModels we also introduced the
duvide dS, our low budget rope to access a wider market focusing on beginners and gyms.
While I was working with our jump ropes I got hooked to more intensive and faster skipping incorporating many more techniques. I also discovered that a lot of techniques, like the overhand grip, were only possible with duvide jump ropes due the vertical swivel system and the extra swing from the middle-section. So the next step were our
skipping techniques and
workouts in
2009.
For the workouts to follow through I needed to be able to watch the time for doing intervals – the
duvide dTimer was borne.
Our
duvide dPP (Pullpushropes) have also been added in
2009 and were inspired by
crossfit's ring training exercise (muscle-up). They are meant as a simple and easy to adjust substitute for gymnastic rings and other body-weight training devices.
Since the beginning of
2010 up to 5 different lengths of the jump ropes are available and we ship
retail orders world-wide directly from our factory by airmail.
Also in
2010 we added the
duvide dSV a real speed rope with a steel-cable solution and the
duvide dMat a skipping mat to cushion impact and to provide a non-slippery surface.
All other models have also been revised in
2010.
We are constantly working to improve our jump ropes and production techniques to continue to be the leader of a full range of professional yet easy to control training jump ropes for straight forward skipping, speed jumping and heavy-rope workouts.
